Dharma Moon Sangha, a Buddhist meditation group in the Plum Village tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh (Emmaus * Allentown * Bethlehem * Easton * Lehigh Valley) will now have it's Meet Up notifications posted on the Keystone Meetup. Carol Cannon, one of Keystone's Meetup organizers, is also a co-facilitator of the DMS, which was founded and organized by Michael Gill.

We gather each Tuesday evening at LivingRoom Yoga in Emmaus. Practitioners should arrive between 7:00-7:10 p.m. and we will begin our practice at 7:15. We do our best to collectively create an energy of peace, freedom, and "no hurry." If possible, practitioners should bring something to sit on during sitting meditation (a meditation cushion or bench) and also something to lay on (a blanket or mat) in case we do guided meditation while lying down. If you do not have these items, that's OK! We have extras available. There are also chairs available for those who are not comfortable sitting on the floor.

The structure of our evening is roughly:
* Brief welcome, introductions.
* A short reading by our facilitator (a few minutes of Buddhist
wisdom from Thich Nhat Hanh or another Buddhist teacher).
* Twenty minutes of meditation (sometimes silent sitting
meditation, sometimes guided meditation).
* Walking meditation.
* Perhaps another short reading.
* Twenty minutes of meditation (sitting or guided).
* Dharma Sharing - Time for sharing about one's spiritual
practice in a non-judgmental atmosphere in which one can speak (only if s/he chooses) without receiving advice/judgments/etc.

Attendance is generally 5 to 10 practitioners. We finish up by 9:00 p.m.

The focus of our sangha gatherings is on collective meditation practice. Thus, attendees will enjoy the experience more if they already have a basic understanding of what to do during silent sitting meditation and walking meditation. One recommended resource is the short book by Thich Nhat Hanh, "The Miracle of Mindfulness." Other resources are available in you to explore on the website: http://dharma-moon.blogspot.com/

Those looking for a meditation class with lots of explicit instruction should check out some of the links on our "Links/Resources" page. Similarly, information about opportunities to practice with Buddhist monastics is also available on that page.

Donations are accepted to support Living Room Yoga's expenses, as they offer their space for our group at no charge.
