Kalamazoo Nature Center (KNC) is planning a 100 mile walk for July 26 - 31. It will start at the KNC, walk to and from Lake Michigan on trails under the guidance of an experienced interpretive naturalist and walker. Pre-training will be offered. Average day will be 6.5 hours or about 16 miles, with transportation back to KNC each night to ready ourselves for the next day's walk. That will be an average of a 24 minute mile.
A shuttle will pick up the walkers each day and return them to the KNC. Each morning the shuttle will take us to the next leg of the walk. The walk begins at the Kalamazoo Nature Center on the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail and continues to South Haven on the Kal-Haven Trail. You will want to carry a day pack with your lunch, snacks, water and other items.
Program cost is $200 for members and $240 for non-members (includes 1 year individual membership), and covers pre-walk training meetings, 5- days transportation, interpretive Naturalist and a donation to KNC.
Maximum: 12 walkers.
Last chance to register is June 26.
