What we're about

The Ladies Guild for Artsy & Intellectual Millennials of Central New Jersey is an invitation-only social and cultural club for millennials living in central New Jersey. Guild members are enthusiastic about arts & culture, history, the natural world, museums, performing arts, local curiosities, good conversation, learning, and friendship. They are comfortable describing themselves as nerdy, literary, artistic, weird, brainy, intellectually curious, cultured (or interested in becoming so), and perhaps bookish and highbrow. Charm and cleverness are, of course, assumed. Many members are also passionate about such progressive issues as sustainability, diversity, social justice, gender equality, and the environment.

The Ladies Guild seeks to create a community where members can share stimulating and inspiring adventures and experiences with like-interested peers through gatherings and excursions that promote intellectual inquiry, the exchange of ideas and knowledge, in-person interaction, and the disruption of sedentary, isolating lifestyles governed by electronic screens.

Ladies Guild activities may include visiting museums and botanical gardens, attending concerts, attending theatrical and performing arts shows, touring historical sites & landmarks, attending special lectures & workshops, watching films, and exploring local hikes. The Guild does NOT organize such social activities as bar/club nights, spa days, sporting events, paintball, wine tastings, dining experiences, or paint nights. Also, although The Guild understands that love is love, the Guild is NOT intended as a dating or singles group.

At the present, the Ladies Guild has an 1-2 events per month and operates in the greater Princeton-New Brunswick area, although occasional excursions to New York City, Newark, Philadelphia and other local cities/towns may be organized.

Prospective Ladies Guild members should be millennials. For those who are unfamiliar, this refers to those born between approximately 1980 and 1996, meaning members are between the approximate ages of 20 and 40 years old. Prospective members MUST be nominated by an existing Guild member to receive membership and participate in Guild activities. Members should be comfortable with gender equality and fluidity! All genders are welcome!

Currently there is no membership fee. Each member is expected to cover their own costs of participating in an event by either purchasing their own ticket/admission or reimbursing the Organizer to reserve their ticket/admission. (The Guild also seeks to organize free and low-cost events.) Typically transportation is not organized and members are responsible for their own transportation, although carpooling and the use of public transportation is encouraged. At present, all Guild events are organized by the Guild Leader although specific events may be organized by a passionate Deputy Organizer. If you are interested in being a Deputy Organizer and organizing an event, contact the Guild Leader!
