The idea is to allow conversations leading to finding people that you may actually like being friends with. Some of us don't have the luxury of being in the company of friends who have the same mental frequency as ours and over time it simply leads to feeling of loneliness especially for outsiders in a city who don't have their family or childhood friends to hang out with.
This is not just another happy hour socializing club where you are simply meeting random strangers to just hang out for the night and talk about the weather. This doesn't mean that we won't have fun, but simply that there will be a theme of every meetup and people who identify with it, can come and meet more of their kinds.
From meeting to celebrate jimmy Hendrix's birth anniversary at a Karaoke place to a discussion on Presidential elections to talking about LGBT lifestyle- the topics can vary.
Topics will be decided based on feedback and recommendations from the members.
I created such a group in Madison,WI (where I used to live before), and it became immensely popular to be one of the most active, well attended groups in the city. It has about 3000 members now and a lot of people are very active. You can check it out here: https://www.meetup.com/The-Like-Minded/
Let's meet up for some Ethiopian food with followed by a Jazz night at Green Mill.
I will make reservations at Demera once I have the list of people identified.
Green Mill does not take reservations and it is hard to get spots for multiple people so be prepared for waiting outside. On July 8th Alan Gresik is scheduled to perform.
For RSVP: My ask is that you keep your RSVP current and I would need a message to me on meetup or a comment on this page to confirm that you're coming. Else, the spot will go to someone else in waiting.
