This is a group for screenwriters, actors, and other filmmakers to improve their storytelling ability, and build strong, lasting relationships within the screenwriting community.
Both actors and writers will benefit from the shared experience of working together under a safe and respectful environment as they help each other in the development of their respective crafts.
A typical 3-hour meeting will consist of reading aloud 1 to 3 shorts screenplays, or 10-15 page excerpts from feature screenplays or TV pilots, followed by discussion on ways for the screenwriter to improve. Occasionally we'll also practice pitching, discuss other screenwriting opportunities, brainstorm story ideas, or get feedback on a treatment or storyline.
We also schedule full table reads of a feature-length screenplay or TV pilot, usually hosted at the screenwriter's house. These meetings last 3-6 hours depending on the length of the piece, and how much discussion takes place afterwards. It's important for full table read attendees to arrive on time, or cancel your RSVP if you know you cannot make the meeting.
At each meeting, please make sure to silence your cellphone and laptop, and be respectful and attentive as we read and discuss each work.
Typically we read off laptops or tablets, and if you don't have one, we're always able to share.
