The walking for fitness walks are around parks, with a focus on improving fitness levels, rather than being scenic. This is the most hilly of my walks with dirt tracks (not paved paths) and there is likely to be mud after all the rain. Appropriate footwear is important on this walk to give support to your feet.
The walk is 4.25 miles. Because of some steep inclines especially in Highgate, you will probably burn off more calories and feel more tired than on the flatter incline walks. If you've indulged on some good Christmas eating, this walk maybe for you! We end up at a nice pub near Hampstead tube at the end for some rest and relaxation. :-)
The pace will still be relaxed and set according to the slowest walker in the group. But please make sure you can cope with the inclines. If you have asthma or leg injuries please think carefully about whether you can do this walk. Mobile phone reception isn't the best in the heath to call for help and once in the heath, it's not easy to find your way out (there's a lack of signage). The walk should end by 1pm and will include a toilet/coffee break mid-way at Kenwood House around 11.30pm. That is a latecomers pick up point too. ;-)
Meet outside Hampstead tube at 10am. We start promptly, so do plan your journey! Please click here for the Transport for London Journey planner http://journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk/user/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2?language=en
PS: The walk will be cancelled/rescheduled if the weather suddenly turns bad or there are less than 10 people signed up.
