Monday mindfulness in Central London
Join a friendly group of meditators meeting to socialise and learn mindfulness in central London. The evening consist of two short guided meditations. This Monday and next Monday the class will start at 6 with an introduction to the 8 week mindfulness course that I teach. People have signed up to attend the session to find out more about the course and to experience a mindfulness session. They may also become regular at the Monday class, which will help to build up the numbers at the class. We will then have the class as usual from 6.15 with the guided meditation, but there will be time at the end for questions. • Start the week in a calm environment • Set yourself up for the week to come • Learn skills to help you let go of stress and nagging thoughts • Learn a natural way to deal with addictions and improve you sense of self worth and confidence We're now in our 9th year of meeting as a group. The group offers simple and non-religious guidance in meditation. There's no chanting or ritual, just a simple and direct approach to mindfulness and Loving Kindness - a practice that helps us to connect with a feeling of care for a friend and for ourself. If you are new to meditation then this is a great place to start as each meditation is fully guided. People come for a variety of reasons: to learn meditation but also to deal with emotional difficulties. What to wear: Mats, cushions and chairs are available. Wear loose trousers for comfort. If you are not used to sitting on the floor there are plenty of chairs. No need to book. The teacher: Nick has over 27 year’s experience of mindfulness practice. After learning to meditate when he was 20 Nick set up the University of Hull meditation society whilst studying as an undergraduate. On graduating Nick moved into a Buddhist community in Cambridge where he lived for three years. Aged 27 Nick ordained at a UK based Buddhist monastery from the Thai Forest tradition and lived there for 6 years as a Buddhist monk. Nick moved to London in 2005 after leaving the monastery, and set up the group in 2009. In 2012 Nick completed the teacher training course for MBCT and runs a Spring and Autumn course each year and teaches mindfulness in workplaces and to organisations. Finding the Venue Map: Hop Gardens is a pedestrian lane running off St martins Lane, between Gym Box and Cote. Doors open from 6pm fora 6.15 start. £10 or £5 concession If you are running late the door is answered for about 10 minutes after the class starts, but from 6.25pm the bell is turned off so you are unlikely to be able to get in.
