The visit will consist of an illustrated talk about the RNLI and Tower Lifeboat Station, watching video footage of rescues, a tour of the station with one of the crew which will give you the opportunity to ask questions and a look at the kit which you can try on if you want to!
Please wear flat footwear and suitable clothes as part of the tour will be outdoors. If anyone is very susceptible to seasickness please take pills before hand. The station is reached by a slopping ramp and 3 steps. Anyone with mobility difficulties should be aware of this. There isn't a toilet at the station.
There is a slight possibility that the visit could be cancelled at the last moment, if the Lifeboat crew are called out on a rescue. If this is the case I will post a message on this page. Please check the messages.
We will meet at Temple tube station at 1.30pm. I'll have a red sign saying LSC. We will wait 10 mins for late comers. Should anyone be even later they should go directly to the Lifeboat Station. It's almost under the North end of Waterloo Bridge. Go through the gate marked "No admittance to unauthorised persons" and press the buzzer to the left of the security gate.
The tour is free, however the RNLI is a charity and one day you may need them to rescue you, so please bring some cash for a donation.
If you find that you can't make it please release your ticket so someone else can take it, as we would like as many club members as possible to be rescue aware. There will also be another visit in February.
