Green Team at Everett Crowley Park Oct 14'12

The Lower Mainland Green Team removed invasive plants (Morning Glory, Himalayan Blackberry, Japanese Knotweed) at Everett Crowley Park in the relentless pouring rain!

Thank you to all the Lower Mainland Green Team volunteers for coming out in the rain to help remove invasive plants threatening recently planted native plants and trees:Silvia, Jag, Jee Yeon, Ting Ting, Brendon, Jovelyn, Shawn, Jessica, Lorraine, Susan, Laura, Tiffany, Adam, Vienna, Luc, Asiza, V., Qiuyuan, Rick, Jennifer, Helen, Jack, Gavin, Janice, Simran, Franco, Jessica and Shayna

Thank you to our host the Vancouver Parks Board (Bill). Our volunteers really enjoyed working along side you!

Highlights

  • 29 volunteers were troopers and came out to volunteer in the pouring non-stop rain for 74 hours. That is dedication!!
  • A special thank you to Susan, Tiffany, Vienna and Laura for leading their own teams of volunteers
  • Of the 29 volunteers, 16 had never been to Everett Crowley Park before and 7 had never removed invasive plants before
  • Volunteers came from Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, Coquitlam and Richmond
  • An estimated 2200 pounds of invasive plants was removed!
  • The mud streaks on volunteer faces!! They looked like warriors.
