Gauranga Full Moon Festival

Join us in a night of fun-filled, joyous festivities as we celebrate the birth of Sri Gauranga who began the glorious kirtan tradition that is now sweeping the globe.

Sri Gauranga appeared 500 years ago, just before sunset on a beautiful full moon night in Bengal, India. His main purpose was to spread kirtan all over the world as the method of self-realisation in this age of Kali, the age of quarrel, chaos and confusion.

Sri Gauranga changed the very fabric of Indian society by begging everyone to sing the holy names of the Supreme Person (kirtan) regardless of their caste, age, color, sex, or religious designation. He did not come to start a new religion. He simply asked whoever he met to sing the sweet holy names of the Supreme Person, dance with abandon and enjoy the perfect happiness of spiritual love. He plundered the storehouse of love for the Supreme, tasted the sweetness himself and distributed it to everybody without discrimination.

Sri Gauranga glorified Kirtan as; “The prime benediction for humanity because it spreads the rays of the benediction moon, it increases the ocean of transcendental bliss and enables us to taste the nectar for which we are always anxious.” [Sri Siksastakam 1]

Kirtan nourishes the deepest needs of the soul. Come and immerse yourself in the joyous singing, ecstatic dancing and spiritual love that kirtan brings to our lives.

This celebration of the appearance of Sri Gauranga will be held on March 8th with lots of joyous uplifting kirtan, live Vedic story-telling, timeless bhajans, dancing and feasting.
