Greetings from the Marine Science Consortium!

We would like to pass on some information to your club about the wildlife and nature photography workshops we are offering in 2012. And as a special offer we would like to give a 5% discount to club members who mention during registration that they heard about the workshop through this announcement. Workshops are taught by experts and program tuition includes instruction, transportation to field sites, entrance fees, access to restricted areas, all meals and lodging for weekend workshops. Please find below a description of the workshops we are offering this year.

The Digital Nature and Wildlife Photography Workshops offered through the Marine Science Consortium () are designed for the intermediate through advanced level photographer. Taught by experts these courses are for those with an interest in unique ecosystems, and creating inspiring imagery with particular consideration for conservation and the environment. The beautiful Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge on Assateague Island and Wallops Island a restricted access area offers a variety of photogenic subjects. You can expect to photograph ocean views, intriguing wildlife, panoramic vistas, and untamed marshes. Workshops are small and are therefore targeted to the unique skill set of each individual.

Online Registration is available or call (757) 824-5636 or email to make reservations.

2012 Workshop Schedule

Digital Nature and Wildlife Photography Weekend Workshops
Digital Nature and Wildlife Photography Weekend Workshops are led by photographer Jim Clark. A contributing editor for Outdoor Photographer Magazine, Jim’s articles and images have also appeared in magazines such as Nature’s Best, Defenders, Wildlife Refuge, Birders World, Photo Media, and Wild Bird. A naturalist first and foremost, Jim’s workshops always include a bit of natural history. He believes the more you know about your subject, the more your photography will stand out from the others. Both in the field and the classroom, Jim is a knowledgeable teacher and workshop leader. He works on a personal level to develop an artistic, informative, and enjoyable learning environment.
Intermediate Workshop May 4-7, 2012 - $695
Intermediate to Advanced Workshop November 7-11, 2012 $845

Digital Nature Photography One-day Workshops
Digital Nature Photography One-day Workshops are led by Nikhil Bahl. Nikhil is a professional nature photographer, educator, author, lecturer and workshop instructor. His goal is to inspire people to appreciate the splendor of nature by becoming aware of that which is easily overlooked, and by transforming the mundane into the exciting through contemplative and artistic interpretation. While his primary aim is to create art with his photographs, he also strives to document the natural world with an eye toward conservation and education. This has led him to volunteer his time and photography skills with the National Park Service and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
