Mindfulness is "the awareness that emerges through paying attention on purpose, and nonjudgmentally, to the unfolding of experience moment to moment."
The Montrose Center welcomes you to a weekly mindfulness practice on Mondays at 7pm in Room 106, after yoga. Free & open to the public. Everyone is welcome!
Practices include sitting meditation, mindful breathing, compassion cultivation, singing bowl meditation, body scan, open monitoring, zen gardening, walking meditation, and more.
Iftikhar Community of Texas invites fellow LGBTQQIA+ Muslims ((or anyone who grew up in a Muslim background and who also identifies with the LBGTQIA community)) to join us for a monthly support group, a first of its kind aimed specifically at LGBTQQIA+ Muslims
This is a great way to get your voice out and talk about issues or concerns you have experienced in being both LGBTQ+ and Muslim and/or how you overcome! We all learn from each other and greatly relate to the struggles of being at the corner of our intersectionalities.
Due to the nature of being a support group, we ask that you attend only if the intersections of being both LGBTQQIA+ and identifying as Muslim (or coming from a Musim background) apply to you. We do hold other events in which we welcome our allies and friends, and we ask you to keep a look out for those!
We hope to see fellow LGBTQQIA+ Muslims, every second Saturday of the month!
Please leave any questions you may regarding this event below or feel free to message us at [masked]
PS. Sometimes we get food/drinks afterwards, it depends on everyone's schedule!
