We need you. Yes you, reading this. The MADE is growing, and we have a lot to do, so we need your help on some of our longer term projects. We’ll be moving shelves around, making signs, building policies and procedures, everything we need to do to deal with our increasing popularity, and rising visitor numbers.
What does being a volunteer entail? We ask of you 6 hours a month: one Saturday or Sunday. The MADE is entirely volunteer run, and not complicated to staff, but we do need some more people who can reliably show up to be on-staff, answer questions, and reset the occasional non-working game. Volunteers, of course, get a few benefits for being volunteers.
For a start, volunteers get a 1 year membership to the MADE, provided they keep their hours current. That membership entitles you to special events with famous game developers, free access to our Game Bar, and the ability to attend important events to staff our booths.
If you are interested in volunteering, the best thing to do is to join us at our weekly Wednesday night meeting at the MADE. Meeting starts promptly at 7, with most people showing up by 6:30 to socialize and chat. You need no prior skills to be a volunteer, you just need to be a responsible person. If you cannot make it Wednesday, drop in on Saturday or Sunday during open hours and we can tell you more. Alternately, visit us on IRC on Freenode, in #made.
