NYC Skeptics is proud to present the below offer from our friends at Science Riot!

Join us for a brainy comedy night at the New York Hall of Science (NYSCI), where local scientists will attempt to be funny on stage for the first time ever! Science Riot trains local experts with a crash course in comedy writing and performance. The resulting showcase is an evening of laughter, learning, and libations where our newest cohort of real-life scientists deliver "late night" style comedy talks directly to real-life humans.

Affiliates of NYC Skeptics and NECSS can receive 25% off online tickets for opening night of a brand new science-comedy series in NYC with promo code: STANDUPFORSCIENCE at checkout.

SCIENCE RIOT! Real Experts. Real Funny.
Saturday, March 18th. 7:30-9:00pm.
New York Hall of Science[masked]th St
Corona, NY 11368
Tickets on sale now for opening night: https://scienceriot.ticketleap.com/nysci/

For adult audiences only, tickets are limited.

Starting at 6:30 pm, NYSCI welcomes ticket holders to enjoy a drink at the bar, which will be outside on the terrace if weather permits. Projects by some of NYSCI's 2019 Designers-in-Residence will also on view, grab a bite after the show at the Queens Night Market in NYSCI's parking lot.

Ticket proceeds help to ensure this training remains free for science professionals! Science Riot was recently featured on NPR’s "Here & Now" and hosts regular programs in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Colorado Springs, Denver, and New York City. We believe in the power of humor to connect with broad audiences, make difficult topics accessible, and humanize scientists without undermining the seriousness of their professions.

Want to give it a try?

Science Riot and the New York Academy of Sciences are offering FREE science communication workshops, with immersive training in "late-night" comedy writing and performance. Brave STEM professionals (all careers welcome) will undergo 4.5 hours of hands-on training with our comedians to hone a 5-7 minute comedy talk about a scientific topic.

Even if you think your topic is mind-numbingly dull, they will help you find the humor and a way to connect with public audiences. The workshops are spread over three weeks, culminating in a showcase event where you will deliver your talk live on stage to a crowd of real-life people!
