Fountains Abbey, Ripon, Yorkshire
The area around Fountains Abbey, near Ripon is fantastic for cycling and walking and we had a great weekend at this bunkhouse in July 2016. This is a brilliant place to stay and the whole area is lovely. The cottage sleeps 16 (18 informally) and is in the grounds of Fountains Abbey. It has 3 bedrooms and 4 showers and wcs (male and female). The kitchen is great, there is a nice sitting room and dining room and the hostel itself looks lovely. There is plenty of parking outside the cottage, as well as tables and barbeque facilities.
The location is ideal, being only a two mile walk or cycle from Ripon which has lots of attractions and sights, as well as plenty of pubs and restaurants. Masham (the home of Black Sheep beer) is a day walk.
I plan to use the cottage as a base for a cycling and walking weekend. I will lead a bike ride or two and there are other people who can lead walks in the group.
The cost is £55 which includes three nights accommodation, 3 cooked breakfasts, 3 lunches, and three evening meals. If anyone has any special dietary requirements please let me know. The emphasis will be upon fun in the night as well as the day and if the weather is good we can do a barbecue and have some outside games in the evening. As ever, with my breaks there will be fun and games in the evening so be prepared to join in the fun.
As it is a hostel we will all have to muck in with cooking, cleaning, tidying etc.
I have to get a £60 deposit this week which I will put down. So the faster you pay over a £10 deposit the better. If you don’t already have my account details please message me. If you RSVP yes but don’t pay you won’t come.
Please only RSVP yes if you really intend to come, can get the £10 deposit over quickly and won’t drop out at the last minute. Organising these things becomes a nightmare when people mess around. Deposits are non-refundable.
