What: Tarzan, Mars, and the Fertile Mind of Edgar Rice Burroughs

When: Thursday, December 22,[masked]:30 PM

Where: Pleasant Historical Home and Park
217 South Home Avenue
Oak Park, IL 60302

Come learn about the man behind Tarzan- Edgar Rice Burroughs.

Our friends at the Oak Park/ River Forest Historical Society are presenting a fascinating exhibit on the life and work of Edgar Rice Burroughs. Much of the exhibit focuses on Burrough's life while living with his family in Oak Park. The exhibit runs through the end of 2010.

The exhibit features dozens of photographic images of the author, his family, his many residences, and of course, Tarzan, Jane, Cheetah, and Boy.

Also featured: Tarzan toys, puzzles, action figures, lobby cards, and movie stills.

The Burroughs family lived in several Oak Park residences: 821 S. Scoville (rented from[masked]), 414 Augusta (owned from[masked]), 700 N. Linden (owned from[masked]), and 325 N. Oak Park Ave. (rented from[masked]).

The Oak Park/River Forest Historical Society placed a plaque at his residence located at 700 N. Linden Ave. in 1999--the last home the Burroughs family owned while living in Oak Park.

Guided tours of the exhibit are available during regular tour times: 12:30-3:30 pm Thursday-Sunday (March-November) and 12:30-2:30 pm Thursday-Sunday (December-February).
