This event will be held at Google's Moffett Place campus in Sunnyvale. Moffett Place building 1, Floor 2, room name "Hermann's Gird". Parking is free. Enter through the main lobby on the inner side of the building (not the side facing Highway 237). From here, we will help you print a guest badge and direct you to the room. Food will be served in this room. Schedule: 6:00-6:30pm - Food & Mingle 6:30-7:00pm - Noah Dietz, Google: Your API is a contract...so test it like one! Having an API specification for your project is great, but just having it is not enough. It needs to be true. It needs to be tested. An API specification is only useful if the implementation is aligned. So, why don't we use the specification to generate our tests? Let's take a look at specification-based testing, what it's all about and why it's awesome. 7:00-7:30pm - Ron Ratovsky: OAS v3.0 - What's new with the OAS
- Singapore: Day of OAS
Join the Open API Initiative (https://www.openapis.org/) and Tyk (http://www.tyk.io) on Thursday 14 September at The Hive Rooftop - 59 New Bridge Road (https://goo.gl/maps/kfcfXptAFCU2), to learn more about how the Singapore Government builds user-focused digital services as part of 2017's Global Day of OAS. The Singapore Government has long driven countrywide digital disruption, with the Government Digital Services (GDS) team focused on putting citizens right at the heart of its approach to service and platform design. What's also integral to their plans for beneficial digital disruption? Their innovative use of APIs. How are these ambitious and important projects mapped out? What are the technical opportunities and challenges, especially using the Government's own API Gateway? How do they impact on private sector innovation? And how does the Government build upon global standards to encourage efficiency, effectiveness, security, and adoption across both agencies and the private sector? We'll be joined by James Lee, John Tng, and Robin Cher of GovTech, to tell us more. Join us from 1900 onwards for a 1930 start, upon which talks and discussion will run until around 1945. After that, it's celebration time until around 10pm, with drinks and light bites included in the ticket price. Please note: This is a ticketed event - grab yours at http://oasday-sg.peatix.com/ More info on OAS v3.0 (https://www.openapis.org/blog/2017/07/26/the-oai-announces-the-openapi-specification-3-0-0)
- San Francisco - Day of OAS: An evening with OASv3, code generation and more.
Join us, the Open API Initiative Meetup, for an evening of discussion and tech demos around API code generation tools, and more built with OpenAPI 3.0. There will be a live stream, check back here closer to the event date for details. • Erin McKean - IBM: Hear from IBM Lead Developer Advocate Erin McKean (https://twitter.com/emckean) on "Selling OpenAPI: how to convince your team (and your manager!) to adopt the OpenAPI Spec" OpenAPI is a fantastic tool for improving your team’s productivity in creating, testing, and consuming APIs—but not if you can’t get your team to use it! Learn how to sell your team on the OpenAPI spec, answer common questions, and reassure the anxious. • Tim Burks - Google: "Taking API Code Generation to the next level with OpenAPI 3" Lots of people love REST APIs, but writing code to call them is tedious, error-prone, and thankless. It would be great to eliminate this task from our to-do lists and lists of project risks. But people who’ve used code generators know that they rarely work well out-of-the-box. We'll talk about an effort that brings customization and distributed ownership to API code generation by building on the new OpenAPI 3.0 specification and years of experience with gRPC and Google's API Discovery Format. • Aldo Bucchi - Mulesoft: "AMF (The API Modeling Framework)" Will show a preview the API Modeling Framework (AMF), an open source project that provides a set of tools for enterprise scale API development and maintenance in OAS, RAML and other technologies. • Shekhar Banerjee - eBay: Shekhar will share the OpenAPI Spec journey taken by eBay. Learn about why they chose OAS and steps it takes to get to adoption. Entrance: Come in through the building lobby on Howard St. and up to the 4th floor. The building will be locked after 6pm, so you will be let in by a guard. Once upstairs, find an open computer in the lobby and complete the Launchpad guest registration and collect a name tag/badge. If you have a bike, it must be brought in through the loading garage located on Beale Street. - Webinar: Open API Initiative, 6 months & counting: a community panel discussion
Join OAI members as we discuss the state of the OAI six months in! This webinar-only event (https://developer.ibm.com/open/events/open-api-initiative-six-months-and-counting/) is being hosted by IBM with participation from Apigee, Capital One, SmartBear and StrongLoop. Hear from Swagger founder Tony Tam, OAI board members and others on how the project has grown and where it is headed. IBM has graciously included the Open API Initiative as part of their developerWorks Open Tech Talks (https://ibm.6connex.com/event/developerWorksOpen/login). APIs form the connecting glue between modern applications today, which are used to connect third party data services, public/private data sources, and other applications. Creating an open description format for API services that is vendor-neutral, portable, and evolves under shared governance is important. Moderator: • Jeff Borek (https://twitter.com/jeffborek), IBM Panel members: • Dennis Brennan, Capital One • Raymond Feng, StrongLoop • Marsh Gardiner (https://twitter.com/earth2marsh), Apigee • Tony Tam, SmartBear NOTE: The webcast will being promptly at 11:00 a.m. ET.
