After I first did this hike, I planned on finding another way up, but have since failed. I will continue to look for another way, but I want to do this hike again before it gets to hot.
This route to Whiteface has intensive climbing you will be using your hands a lot. You will also need good balance and not being scared of heights is a plus. There are a couple grave markers at the start of the trail which the police called a suicide.
This hike will take you up another iconic mountain in Simi Valley, Whiteface. This mountain can be seen from the 118 freeway and throughout most of Simi Valley. Recent homes and roads make this hike shorter than what it used to be when I was a kid, but it still offers a challenge.
Here is a good write up about this hike:
Actual Pictures of the Trail:
Dogs are allowed in this area, and I have taken Bella; but there is intensive climbing and I had to lift her up some of the more difficult areas. For this reason, I am urging everyone to leave their dogs at home or take them to the dog park instead.
From the 118 Freeway in Simi Valley, exit on Erringer and drive North. Follow Erringer to the end and turn right on Lost Canyons Drive. Follow the brown signs for the Simi Dog Park, it will be on the left side.
After turning left onto the drive, park at the first parking lot near the baseball fields. If there is a game in progress and the lot is full, continue up the road and park at the dog park parking lot. The trail starts behind the water tank.
Rain or High Winds will postpone this hike.
At the end of this hike, we shall meet at Topper's Pizza for Dinner. Anyone is welcome, including people that did not attend the hike. The address is:
2408 Erringer Rd
