Two members have requested we do this hike again soon, so here you go! Mission Peak (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mission_Point_(California)) is the second highest point in the Santa Susana Mountains, and at the top there is a grand view of the San Fernando Valley as well as Santa Clarita (a couple of pics are below). This will be a great hike for intermediate-level members and there is easy access at the north side of the SF Valley from the 118.

The hike itself, a fire road with some steep sections, is actually a bit less than 5 miles round trip with an elevation gain of 1200', so it will be difficult for beginners. The trailhead is at the end of a cul-de-sac on Neon Way in Granada Hills. The sun will set that night at 7:19 pm, and and it will be dark by the time we descend so make sure you bring a flashlight in addition to water. Please try to keep your noise level to a minimum as we reach the cars so as not to disturb the residents who live right there.

Distance: <5 miles
Elevation Gain: 1200'
Difficulty: Intermediate (too hard for beginners).
Restrooms: No.
Parking: Free on the street.
Dogs: Leashed dogs are fine.

Directions: Take the 118 Freeway to the Balboa exit, go North about 2 miles and turn left onto Sesnon, then go roughly 1 mile turning right onto Neon Way, which you will take to the cul-de-sac at the end, where you can park. Carpooling is recommended.

Known Dangers include rattlesnakes and there is a sign at the trailhead warning of mountain lions, which are highly unlikely.
