Length: 2.5 miles
Elevation Gain: 350ft
What to Bring: Water, Snacks, and Sweater/Jacket if you get cold easy.
This is a nice hike around a beautiful park. On this hike you will experience great views and interesting rock formations. When you get there, park behind the Sage Ranch sign and and we will hike up the road a bit and start the trail behind campsite 6.
Driving up to Sage Ranch from Simi Valley is a small, steep, winding mountain road with no guard rails. Make sure you are comfortable driving on these types of roads or carpool. I have never gone to this park from Topanga Canyon so I can not comment on this route.
Parking: There are two parking lots at the Sage Ranch Park (lower and upper). At the upper lot, you have to pay $5 to the iron ranger; while at the lower lot, there are no signs or anything about this fee. You have to drive past the lower parking lot before you reach the upper lot so you can't miss it. I parked at the lower lot when I was there last time and I was fine (so were the cars next to me), but please be forewarned of this and plan to pay if you want to be cautious. I plan to start this hike at the lower lot.

About: Sage Ranch, sitting at 2,000 feet, has a garden-of-the-gods appearance. Located in the Simi Hills overlooking the valley, this 635-acre park is rich with world-class sandstone formations. The park boasts and endless display of unique boulders and outcrops. Sandstone Ridge, a long, steep, weathered formation with caves and natural sculptures, rises 300 feet from the trail. Beautiful carved boulders and eucalyptus trees fill the canyon section of this loop trail.
Rain will postpone this hike.
