You may have heard about Non-Violent Communication. You may know that it was developed by Marshall Rosenberg, a PhD in Psychology and that it has been used successfully in inner cities and to quell violence and overcome misunderstandings in places such as Rwanda, Nigeria, the Middle East, and Ireland.

What you may not realize is that Non-Violent Communication is at heart a practical, no nonsense approach to getting in touch with and expressing the thing that makes us human ? the thing that makes us feel alive. When we can share this aliveness with another person, it immediately fosters understanding and cooperation.

We shift the focus from a struggle to dominate and avoid being dominated to a recognition and celebration of our shared humanity.

This simple truth has been the foundation of seeming miracles of negotiation and reconciliation between warring nations. It is no less potent in personal relationships between spouses, siblings, parents and children, friends, and at work.

David Park designed this day-long workshop as a gentle introduction to Non-Violent Communication principles and techniques and as a way to support personal discovery of how you can use them effectively. Unfortunately, intellectual understanding of the principles of Non-Violent Communication is not enough to effectively apply them in real life. There have even been cases in which the principles have been so grossly misunderstood and misapplied that they were used to effectively dominate and coerce others instead of fostering understanding and cooperation!

There is no substitute for personal discovery to breathe life into dry principles and make them into tools for living with which you can create more success and enjoy more life. This day-long workshop is designed to be a safe environment in which participants can experience the potential of Non-Violent Communication to transform dialogs for themselves.
? Discuss how language shapes the way we see and interact with the world.
? Discover how to use language in a new and effective way to gain understanding and cooperation.
? Learn and practice the four components of successful Non-Violent Communication.
? Examine how a situation in your own life is affected by language and how NVC might change it for the better, sharing only as much or as little with the group as you feel comfortable sharing.

Late in the summer of 2008, David Park suffered a severe stroke. He was in intensive care for a week before the doctors finally managed to control his massive cerebral bleeding. In the ICU he nearly died, however, before taking this final step, he asked himself if there was anything that he would miss. He realized that nothing in the world had any appeal for him except the laughter and happiness he could share with loved ones.

So, he chose to come back to life in spite of the fact that by then he was much more dead than alive. Since then, he has dedicated himself to realizing the power and simplicity of this vision, in his own life and as a path to helping others and healing the planet.

David credits his many years of study and training in various disciplines for his conscious awareness of his death process, as well as his ability to come back to life and the robustness of his recovery since. He draws from many disciplines and various healing traditions from around the world. He leads weekly meditation and yoga classes as well as seminars on Prosperity and Abundance, Leadership Success, Communicating Powerfully, and Love, Sex, and Laughter. David is currently writing a book titled, Emerging Into Happiness: A Toolkit for Personal Transformation.

Coaching services are available for individuals and couples by private arrangement.
