Details

Come through for an evening of poetic expression. Creative uses of poetry exposed by raw a capella vocals. Recited works and readings accepted as well as ALL AGES! SPECIAL INVITATION TO SONGWRITERS AND THE LYRICALLY LINGUISTIC BAR DROPPERS (aka DISCIPLES OF HIP HOP)!!!
SOME SESSIONS MAY BE THEMED!!!

The evening is hosted by Fernando Sanders, with help from special guest hosts.
The evening starts with a half hour writer's block break-through session, followed by the mic opening up at 7p.m. Sign-up runs throughout the evening. We go by length of piece, rather than time, so be considerate. Two long pieces ( about two pages) at max, and three short pieces (about sonnet sized stanzas) at max. We want the audience to see the poet comfortably expressing their emotion. POETS CAN SIGN-UP AS MANY TIMES AS THEY WANT!!! You can also sign-up early via HERE or Imurj's FB events page, JUST COMMENT THAT YOU WANNA GET ON THE MIC!!!!

***Imurj represents a diverse and vibrant community here in Raleigh so we value and appreciate all forms of artistic expression. With that said, please be aware that you may hear profanity during some performances. The views and opinions expressed by any artists/or persons appearing do not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of Imurj. However, we do not tolerate any forms of hate speech, prejudice, defamation or slander.

Thank you for your continued support and participation.***
