Free Premiere Showing 1918 Circus Train Wreck Documentary

Documentary about the 1918 Circus Train Wreck which took place on the Gary/Hammond border when an engineer fell asleep. "The Day the Circus DIDN'T Come To Town." Free admission! Local celebrities appear in the documentary. I have been editing this video for about 8 months now and this will be the Premiere showing. Q & A session afterwards. DVD's will be available for purchase. Carpool available if desired.

Portage River Walk and Lunch

Portage Lakefront & Riverwalk

We'll walk the beautiful Portage River walk and surrounding area and then have lunch at the Islamorada Fish Company in nearby Bass Pro Shop. (Re-scheduled from April 27th. Hopefully we won't cancel again due to icy rain.)

Lake Katherine Botanic Garden Hike/Lunch

Lake Katherine Botanic Gardens is a beautiful 85-acre park that includes woodlands, prairie, wetlands, gardens and a 10-acre lake. We will visit the water falls, herb and butterfly gardens and walk the one mile loop wood chip path around the lake. Expect to see wild-life and many species of plants. There's also sculptures and a Beaver lodge. The nature center features a menagerie of reptiles, animals and interesting books and exhibits . Optional lunch at Mama Vesuvio's East, 6361 W College Dr, 60463 Palos Heights after the park visit. The park is about a 1/2 hour drive from Hammond. Carpool will leave Hammond at 11:20am.

Wings of Freedom Tour

Porter County Regional Airport

The Collings Foundation's WWII B-17G Flying Fortress, B-24J Liberator, B-25J Mitchell, P-51D Mustang, and P-40N Warhawk will be visiting Valparaiso, IN at the Porter County Regional Airport . Tours through the aircraft will be available for $15 for Adults and free for WWII Veterans. Tour hours are 10am-5pm. Flights on the B-17, B-24, B-25, P-51 and P-40 are available for lots of money. A majority of your flight donation is tax-deductible! Come on out and help us “Keep 'em Flying!” Carpool will leave Hammond at 10am.
