Department of Instruction Teleconferences for January 6, 13, 20, & 27

Greetings and best wishes to you! Please see the January Department of Instruction Teleconference Schedule below as well as instructions on how to access the teleconferences: Wednesday, January 6, at 1:30 pm Pacific time Meditation in Depth Meditation is the key, and central practice, of spirituality and for the mastery of life. Much progress can be made when meditation is practiced daily. What is the purpose of meditation? Is prayer the same or different from meditation? How much meditation is needed each day? How can I arrange for more time to meditate? Does the practice of contemplation increase the effectiveness of meditation? Is meditation mentioned in the Bible and other sacred texts? What was the meditation technique used by the traditional Rosicrucian Magister Johannes Kelpius in his historic cave now in Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania? These common, and not-so-common, questions and more will be covered. Join Hugh McCague in exploring how meditation makes for the most direct and sure wise counsel in our daily lives and increases our capacity for service. Wednesday, January 13, at 1:30 pm Pacific time Rediscovering the Wisdom of the Ancient Mystery Schools The Ancient Mystery Schools served as spiritual centers in the ancient Western world, educating students in natural laws and principles so they could better live in harmony with them; encouraging introspection in order to know oneself; and engendering within a feeling of connection with the Great Mystery of the Universe. Join Grand Master Julie Scott in exploring some of the ways that the Rosicrucian Tradition perpetuates this wisdom today. Wednesday, January 20, at 1:30 pm Pacific time Science on Meditation In recent decades there has been a rapidly expanding amount of scientific research done on meditation and its effects on psychological and physical health. New scientific instruments and methods have helped with this expansion. Is meditation helpful in dealing with depression, anxiety, and trauma? Does meditation help increase our information processing speed and improve working memory? Does meditation help us to have sounder sleep and become more energized and capable in handling challenging projects in our lives? Does meditation aid the healing process including through the heart, and the nervous and immune systems? Our guide Hugh McCague will provide an overview of some recent scientific research on the benefits of the daily practice of meditation and note how Rosicrucian laws and principles are involved and being demonstrated. Wednesday, January 27, at 1:30 pm Pacific time Ancient Egyptian Spirituality In this teleconference, Grand Master Julie Scott, who also serves as the Director of the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum, will introduce us to some of the spiritual beliefs and practices of the ancient Egyptians. We will learn about the ancient Egyptians’ view of the soul, the nature of being, and the afterlife and the related symbolism of Isis, Queen of the Universe, Ma’at, the Goddess of Order, Anubis, the Conductor of the Initiates, and Thoth, the Keeper of the Mysteries and the Initiator.
