San Francisco World Veg Festival

It's time for San Francisco's famous annual VegFest Weekend in the San Francisco County Fair Building in Golden Gate Park (9th Ave. at Lincoln Way), October 6th and 7th, 10am-6:30pm.

This year, the World Vegetarian Congress will held in SF and merged into VegFest, making it a larger event and bringing in even more exciting speakers than usual.

$10 admission each day. Free for children under 12, seniors, & students. Speakers, healthy cooking demos, food sampling, children's corner, and live entertainment. Optional catered vegan dinners at 6:45 p.m. both days are $26 each.  Check out the VegFest website for details.

If you want to carpool you can use the discussion section (below) or in the comment section when your RSVP, to coordinate with other Santa Cruz folks who are going.

Kyung, I would want to make sure the transportation is close to the event in the park. So far I am leaning towards driving, unless it looks like transportation both ways is not complicated.

We now have buttons just for our members! If you'd like to wear a button with our name on it, find Radha and Gala's booth, introduce yourself as a Friendly Vegan and you'll get a free button! Again, look for the booth with books, flags and a Prop 37 sign. : )

I have another friend that is going as well. So far it is looking like we are leaving here at 11 and returning in the late afternoon, maybe leave between 4-5 pm depending on how we feel and what there is to see after 4.

My husband and I are going Saturday and are interested in carpooling. We are in Santa Clara and would like to leave in the late morning (to be there for lunch) and leave late afternoon/early evening. Is anyone else going in that time frame from our area?

Gala and I are sharing the space, and she and Dave will be selling pretty hand made flags. COME LOOK!

YES, find me at the booth with my little VICTOR, THE VEGETARIAN and VICTOR'S PICNIC baby books. I'll also have signs to vote YES ON PROP.37 = let's get genetically engineered foods LABELED!

Bright idea! We have some brand new members in our group who do not know us by our beautiful faces. It would be nice if we could actually meet. So, perhaps folks can make their own sign to wear so we can find each other; i.e. name tag saying "Santa Cruz Friendly Vegans", or put it on a pin or t-shirt. Or, if anyone is feeling up to it, you can make multiple ones and share them with the rest of us. Radha will be selling books at a booth, and may be a good point of contact to relay messages, etc.

I am planning to leave at noon from the Westside of Santa Cruz and will be returning to Santa Cruz at 11 PM on both Saturday and Sunday. Please contact me if you would like to make arrangements to carpool.

    Hi Kyung,
I was planning on going on Saturday, around 11am. The light rail station is right there on Bascom near Hamilton by the Pruneyard. I don't have experiece with public transportation. I would be open to that if it works with the location. I am not familiar with SF, but have GPS. I am flexible.

Jenny, I'm interested in carpooling but I don't know when I'm going yet. I'm trying to find a potential place to stay overnight - If anyone has suggestions re: cheaper hotels. Will keep you updated.

Kyung, I live in Campbell and want to go. Maybe we can start a carpool if we are close to each other. I live near the Pruneyard. Seems like a lot of fun :)
