What we're about

Obviously the situation doesn't currently allow for classes to meet in the same ways we were used to, but when we can be we are in halls (albeit under the usual restrictions) or, if not, classes are continuing online via Zoom. We are accepting beginners, so if you'd like to get a head start on your tai chi for when we can get back to more normal training check the website (https://www.taichiandinternalarts.com/) and get in touch. Simon teaches 1-2-1 classes at a reduced rate in Steyning and in Hove Park (socially distanced, naturally), please contact him for details (https://www.taichiandinternalarts.com/contact).

We are also currently offering our extensive online video library alongside classes when you sign up with us. Access to these resources is so that not only can you study more easily between classes but your learning can continue if you have to self-isolate, your instructor has to, a hall is temporarily closed for deep cleaning or whenever Covid measures are introduced locally or nationally.

There are many different descriptions for tai chi, but authentic, traditional tai chi from a genuine family lineage is proven to be great for reducing stress, improving calm, nourishing health in the joints/bones and being fun to learn! We teach a broad, deep and complete curriculum (to begin with that's maybe not so important, but to truly progress all aspects of tai chi need to be considered - start as you mean to go on...). Our experience in a wide range of styles of tai chi as well as other related arts nourish our teaching (and your learning) for a healthier, happier you. Please get in touch with us (https://www.taichiandinternalarts.com/contact) if you have any questions. More information may also be found on the website (https://www.taichiandinternalarts.com/).

Classes are not exclusive to Meetup members so do not worry if you initially appear to be the only attendee!

Upper Beeding Tai Chi

Upper Beeding Village Hall

This class covers many aspects of traditional Yang style curriculum which may include core principles, forms, and weapons; this means it is a great way to gain an overview of tai chi. It is usually taken as an additional class to weekly classes (where the curriculum is taught step by step). Under Covid conditions pre-booking is a condition of attendance. Beginners are very welcome to come and join in although if they've never trained much in tai chi or similar before then we might recommend just the first hour. This drop-in class is normally taught by Cher Robins though other instructors may be there or taking the class. There is a WhatsApp group which has updates and support materials, please let either Simon or Cher know at class if you'd like to be included. Cost: £5 one hour, £10 hours. For full details please visit www.taichiandinternalarts.com.

Brighton Tai Chi & Qigong

The Hanover Centre

Tai Chi is a mindfulness practice, moving meditation and martial art. Whichever path interests you the most, the journey begins with discovering your natural movement. We cannot, for the moment, train in partnerwork so all classes emphasise qigong and neigong (the inner skills within authentic tai chi study), as well as the solo forms that tai chi is most known for. Tai chi and qigong have been shown to be remarkably effective at helping with a host of health issues, but are also great at keeping people fit, strong and young! Under current Covid regulations prior booking is required, particularly as places are very limited to ensure adequate spacing.
