The Secret Handshake Ride
The Secret Handshake Ride is your chance to improve your fitness and confidence by taking on various intermediate to advanced riding techniques such as interval training, drafting, climbing, descending and common road riding etiquette. These free 'no-drop' rides meet every other Thursday in front of the Rapha Cycle Club San Francisco at 6:25am, roll at 6:30am sharp and go for about two hours. Come dressed appropriately for cool SF mornings, e.g. long sleeve jersey, arm warmers and/or jacket, knee or leg warmers, long fingered gloves, etc., especially if it's forecast to stay below 60 degrees. Your road bike should be adjusted to fit you well, with tires pumped and be fully functional. Don't hesitate to message me with any questions or concerns at [masked].

What we're about

This group is for you if you're a newish to intermediate level cyclist and you've committed to riding a Fondo, the AIDS/LifeCycle or maybe a race, triathlon or a bike tour. After all, bike riding is easy – but being a capable cyclist? – not so much.

Riding bikes safely with skill and confidence can be a transformative experience, but it doesn’t come intuitively to all. Even the most serious cyclists have felt awkward at some point on their journeys. It’s a rite-of-passage, but one that’s much easier and more fun with group of riders with similar experience levels and a mentor.

I’m Alec, The Cycling Mentor. I ride with aspiring bike riders sharing insight and best practices, so they can express themselves as skillful, refined, faster and safer cyclists. If going faster is your only objective, then please allow me to introduce you to a trainer or coach. If you want to be a more proficient and capable cyclist, or you’ve noticed you’re struggling in a way your ride companions aren’t then let's Meetup!
