Event Description: I have come to realize, only a few people read this, so I write to clear my thoughts, feelings and for my own amusement. I like to come up with a topic. The meetups never really follow the topic. The discussions go in whatever direction comes up. I see the meetup as a quantum soup or field of infinite possibilities. I like exploring and look forward to exploring consciousness and spirituality with others. There is some ancient wisdom that basically goes "Be with people that are on a journey of exploration and run away as fast as you can from people who claim to have The Answer or The Way." I believe everyone has their own answers and everyone has access to the infinite wisdom and knowledge of the universe(s).

I find it fun to explore and question. Phrases, clich?s, words and even tones and accents can give us insight into ways we relate to our reality and our consciousness.

I was thinking about a topic for the next meetup. As I mentioned, the meetups never really follow the topic, but I find it fun to come up with some idea. I never know what that will be. Something comes up and feels fun so here it is. What kept coming up were questions. I believe the quality of the answers we receive depends on the quality of the questions we ask. We can ask "Why are here?" "What is the nature of the universe?" "Does the universe have laws? If it does, what are they and can we comprehend them?" "Is there any order in the universe or are we just imagining it?" "Is there a law of attraction?" If so, "If I am creating my reality, why am I getting this?" Do I have a life purpose and if so what is it?" These and many more are profound questions. One question just kept coming back into my mind. It made me laugh. I feel laughter lines the road to enlightenment.

It seemed like the question "Are we there yet?" went back to the beginning of human consciousness. At some point, some child tugged on his parent's skin cloth and asked "Are we there yet?' It is a question everyone has heard.

I like taking concepts apart, unraveling them to see what is going on underneath or inside. This question has a lot more depth to it then the simple yes or no answer. It implies motion, it implies there is a "There" to get to, and it implies a sense or concept of time "Yet". Who are "We" and why are we in such a hurry to this "there"? Once we are "there" then what? Do we look for another "there" and take off after that? Maybe, "there" is a physical place, maybe it is a state of mind, maybe an emotion, maybe having the money we want or the relationship, maybe it is reaching enlightenment. Are we happy when we get "there"? Will we ever be "there"? How will I know I am "there"?

The word "yet" is very commonly used and yet the definitions feel clumsy
1. At this time; for the present: isn't ready yet.
2. Up to a specified time; thus far: The end had not yet come.
3. At a future time; eventually: may yet change his mind.
4. Besides; in addition: returned for yet another helping.
5. Still more; even: a yet sadder tale.
6. Nevertheless: young yet wise.
And despite this; nevertheless: She said she would be late, yet she arrived on time.
as yet
Up to the present time; up to now.

Implied in "Yet" is our notion of time flowing forward. There is a dilemma in modern physics, as the equations do not restrict time from moving forward or backward. We live with paradoxes and dilemmas. Einstein made his great breakthrough by looking at the paradox of time and space and relating these.

At this point I like to explore and like being on a journey of exploration, full of uncertainty as I feel by being uncertain I open myself to new ideas, new people, new places, new thoughts, new feelings, new beliefs and new identities. I felt like "What the Bleep" was an exploration, questioning our beliefs, our ideas and exploring consciousness and spirituality. "The Secret" brought in many more to this journey of exploration. Sometime I envision consciousness and spirituality as a home with infinite number of rooms having an infinite number of doors. This is a door that has opened to go to room to explore until we choose to go thru another door to another room and then another and another.

When I took over as Organizer of "The Secret" meetup group, I had the idea of letting this be a way to open some more doors to explore. I never intend to buy into anything as "The Answer" or be "The One Way". Notwithstanding that, I feel many things are very valuable and contributory to my journey. "The Secret" has attracted many people to look at the relation of their thoughts to their reality.

Are we there yet?

Let's have some fun on our journeys.

Best, John

BTW: Please feel free to come when you like and leave when you like. If you would like to watch a DVD with others, please bring it and you can do so as we have a room for that.
