Bear Canyon Trail Maintenance
8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Directions: Meet at Angeles Crest Highway (2) and Milmada. From 210 Freeway. Go north 1 block to the popular meeting location on east side.
After meeting, we will consolidate into as few cars as possible and drive to Switzer Picnic Area to begin the hike. If you are late, you can drive directly to Switzer's. After a safety meeting, we will start our hike and carry our tools down the Gabrielino Trail past Switzer Falls.
Hike is about 1.5 miles one way, 600 loss. We will return the same way. This trip is a follow up to our trip on 11/26 to restore a section of trail near Switzer Falls.
Trail work will consists of brushing, light tread work and log removal. Primary emphasis is on making the trail more visible and removing hazards. We try to accommodate each persons needs regarding tasks and hope that you have a productive and enjoyable experience. We will provide tools but you can bring your own if you prefer.
Please note the requirements for attire in the bullet list below. We will bring extra hard hats, gloves and safety glasses but you are welcomed to bring your own (sunglasses are OK).
Here's a link to a forecast for the area that you can check when the day gets closer: Weather forecast.
