Let's get out for a few hours to help out our tattered trail with Forest Service Volunteers! There are quite a few spots that need attention. So we will just do our best and chip away at what we can.
Mitch will be addressing the retaining wall that had been washed out. He will need our help. Please come and join us.
The lower Sam Merrill Trail is likely the most heavily used trail in the San Gabriel Mountains. With its close proximity to the second largest metropolitan area in the U.S., it is easily accessible for day hikers and trail runners of every fitness level. But the trail has suffered greatly over continued neglect, and the rains of this past winter weren’t any help. Erosion, mini slides, and overgrowth have taken their toll on the trail, and even taken a life.
Restoring the trail to a safer level is possible but only thru the support of volunteers like you. We hope you can join us now or the next time!
You will need to have:
• Long Pants and Long Sleeve Shirt
• Leather Gloves or garden gloves (I may have a couple you can borrow)
• Hiking Shoes or Boots
• A daypack with 2-3 Liters of water, lunch and snacks
We will provide:
