Basic First Aid for the Community and Workplace is a nationally recognized, evidence based first aid program designed to help students develop basic first aid knowledge, skills, and the confidence to respond to emergencies. It is an objective driven, skills based program that covers emergency response, severe bleeding and shock, soft-tissue injuries, bone, joint, and muscle injuries, medical emergencies, heat and cold related illness and injury, and more.
Program participants learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of injuries and sudden illness. Crucial information about how to deal with emergencies like shock, burns, strains, strokes, and seizures is shared. This program is consistent with the recommendations of the 2010 National First Aid Science Advisory Board and OSHA’s best practices for first aid training programs in the workplace. Upon successful completion, participants will receive certification from the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI).
Basic First Aid certification is a prerequisite for our upcoming Rescue Diver Certification Course.
