Monday Meditation with David Kuttruff

Needs a location

Neelakantha Meditation is easy to learn and practice, and is governed by the principle of effortlessness. It is a profound practice that works to bring about transformation, healing, and benevolence. It does not involve concentration, controlling the mind, or other forms of effortful manipulation of awareness. It does not require that you have any particular beliefs, any previous study or specific background in order to learn it and practice it with great benefit. For this reason, it is a practice that anyone can learn. Even those who have had difficulty meditating in the past are surprised at how easily and deeply they can meditate after receiving Initiation into Neelakantha Meditation.
When asked about his enthusiasm over teaching Neelakantha Meditation at Temecula Yoga Collective, David said, “I was happy with my meditation/yoga practices, but was increasingly interested in learning more about yoga philosophy. Ashley, my primary yoga teacher, told me about some of the yoga philosophy teachers she had heard about. She mentioned Professor Paul Muller-Ortega, one of the few experts in some particular areas of yoga philosophy that I found especially interesting. After learning more about a one-year study course that was available, I was pleased to learn that Paul offered a synergistic combination of deep practice and study – not just philosophy but a carefully designed program that included Neelakantha Meditation along with supportive practices and study. I began my studies in 2010 and was delighted to find that this combination of practice/study produced results that were significantly better than anything I had experienced.”

What is Yoga Therapy?

Although you may be familiar with Yoga, the term Yoga Therapy may be new to you. How does Yoga Therapy differ from Yoga? Yoga is an ancient practice of harmonizing the body with the mind using physical poses, breathing exercises, and meditation. Yoga Therapy is the process of empowering individuals toward improved health and well-being by applying the teachings and practices of Yoga. Using Yogic approaches to deepen presence and awareness we are moved to embrace the opportunity for change, growth, and enhanced well-being in body, feelings, thought, and spirit. Both Yoga and Yoga Therapy understand the human being as an integrated body-mind system, which can function optimally only when there is a state of dynamic balance.

A general public Yoga class can certainly ease everyday aches, pains, and mood complaints. But rather than the Yoga student fitting themselves into the same poses and sequences as everyone else, a Yoga Therapy session, whether one-to-one or in a small group, goes much further because it is tailored to the individual. It is essential to have good tools, but it is also essential the tools are used the right way.

Danny works to instill confidence and ability in every student. Each week he empowers participants in their own self-healing through specific regimens of postures, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques. Common physical health conditions addressed include respiratory disorders, cardiovascular conditions, diabetes, auto-immune disorders, and musculoskeletal conditions. The emotional body, and human psychology are also addressed such as chronic stress, lack of spiritual health, including lack of self-discipline, self-care, or meaning of life.

Danny teaches Yoga as a holistic healing art, he is committed to cultivating self-care through habits that improve well-being. Co-Owner of Temecula Yoga Collective, Danny has taught and practiced many modalities of Yoga over the past (10?) years. Danny discovered Yoga Therapy after (? ) and it instantly became his passion. He received extensive training over the last (4 years? Hours?) and became a Certified Yoga Therapist under Amy Wheeler of Optimal State. He is an E-RYT 500, RYS, and enjoys teaching Hatha and Kundalini Yoga. Danny has a playful spirit that makes students feel at ease. Danny has gained a deeper spirituality through his Yoga practice and shares his journey openly to encourage others to find their own path.

Yoga Therapy uses the breath to manipulate our physical and emotional bodies. Learning these different breath patterns and techniques can give you the confidence, confidence that you can take with you in life AS WELL AS in your regular yoga classes.

We will also be exposed to common health ailments that you may be encountering. Yoga Therapy addresses all the most seen illnesses and diseases that you or even a loved one may have experienced. Learn how your heart, brain, body, and personality all respond with specific tools of Yoga Therapy. This way you can confidently take other classes of yoga and know how to care for yourself even when your teacher may not know what you are experiencing. Knowledge is power.

Oftentimes it is confusing when you hear your doctor or trusted source say, “Yoga may be good for you”. That is too broad of a statement because there are SO MANY types of yoga - many of which are actually NOT best for many people.

Yoga is an evolving practice, use whatever tools you may have at your command and better tools will be found as you go along. If the only tool you have is a hammer, it’s hard to eat spaghetti. With Yoga Therapy, when challenges arise, you can confidently say, “I have a tool for that!”
