What we're about
We started this group because we love to play Bid Euchre.
What is Bid Euchre you ask?
Bid Euchre is a card game that is similar to regular euchre, with the following differences:
It introduces an element of bidding in which the trump suit is decided by which player can bid to take the most tricks The number of cards dealt is different with 32 cards being used (two decks of the top 16 cards are used) All of the cards are dealt out and there is no kitty and no card turned up The bidding and scoring system is different The suit of "No Trump" has been added, in which case Aces are always high and jacks are low It is a partnership game for four players, but we also play a 3 handed version of the game in case we don't have an even number of players If we have an extra player or two, we will rotate players into the mix so that everyone will get to play at least 4 games during the evening For more information on bid euchre and our club rules, please ask Irene to email them to you.
If you love to play regular euchre or bid euchre and are a fun, friendly and positive person, then come join us for a nice evening of cards and laughter. We are a non-competitive group and do not welcome negative comments or attitudes during our games. For your comfort, we are located in a climate controlled office building and will always be cool for the hot summer nights and warm for the cold winter nights.
We play from 6:45 - 9:15 and then give out prizes. All newcomers play for free on their first night.
When we say 'beginners', we mean Bid Euchre beginners and not Regular Euchre beginners. We have found that newcomers with no regular euchre experience, have a difficult time picking up the concepts of Bid Euchre and feel overwhelmed on their first night out.
We switch partners and tables after each game, so people will get a chance to play with many different people throughout the night.
We play 6 games, give out prizes for 5 Call 1's, all Moonshots (Lone Hands), 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and Last place after we have finished playing all the games. We have also added two door prize draws at the end of the evening for anyone who hasn't won a prize.
Most Mondays we have a special theme:
3rd Monday: Double Moonshot Jackpot
2nd Monday: All Snacks and Drinks are free
Last Monday: Double Your Please Prize Night. All prizes except for the Moonshot will be doubled in value.
Coffee, Tea and snacks can be purchased from our snack table bar for a whopping $1.
If you are driving, there is plenty of free parking right out front or at the side of our building.
