Congratulations, Katy and Joey ... You sure kept that well hidden. :-) my expectation is that you'll be nothing short of the best parents. I hope we're all able to watch your little grow and prosper!

It wasn't intentionally hidden; Kate has just been carrying small!

I won't be able to attend this meeting. I'm swamped with household chores I've put off during the regular semester and studying for my comps exam. I am also more inclined to attend by topic. I'm currently very interested in W.B. Yeats' use of Plato to formulate a theory of legal positivism that also extended to his critical theory of the arts in Ireland. If anyone else is also interested in this topic, let me know.

"At the touch of love everyone becomes a poet." – Plato

An excellent suggestion, but a rather narrow topic... however there are a number of noted and diverse poets in addition to Yeats who were either Platonists or Neo-Platonists. Ranging from John Donne to Ezra Pound, Plato has had a significant influence on a number of poets. We'll discuss it at the August meeting and determine how much interest there is for the topic for the September meeting.

We'll be attending a birthing class during this meetup both this month and next month. Then we'll end up with a baby, so we'll likely be absent through October.
