Why are you interested in this group?

I am always interested in philosophical discussions. I took part in a philosophy group in Cambridge, England for a while, and was galvanized to write a nice little essay for presentation. I mainly interact with grad students in ecology, so I'm also just interested in meeting some new people.

Name your favorite philosopher, branch of philosophy, or period in the history of philosophy..

Thick Naht Hahn has been influential to me by introducing me to Buddhist practices in meditation, and most importantly by his careful explanations of the lest tangible aspects of our attention. On the other side of my philosophical interests might be Brian Green and his excellent book on fundamental physics "The Elegant Universe".

I'm a PhD student studying tropical forest responses to climate change. I'm interested in most topics about the natural world including botany, physics, geology, and metaphysical topics like consciousness and spiritual paths.
