What we're about
Existentialism is a philosophy that emphasizes individual existence, freedom and choice. Existentialism is of the view that humans define their own meaning in life despite living an absurd and irrational universe. While the works of well known existentialist thinkers and philosophers such as Jean Paul Sartre and Albert Camus maybe discussed, the purpose of this group is to apply existentialism in a practical sense, to help the group members live an authentic and free life in the goal of bringing meaning and fulfilment to their existence. Typically each discussion will focus on a specific theme such as relationships, work, freedom, choice, happiness..etc. Discussions on those matters will be done in a friendly and non-judgmental setting, and always focusing on the individual, their own life and how the selected theme applies to them rather than searching for an elusive ultimate truth. The group is open to practising existentialists as well those interested in learning more about existentialism and how it may apply to their lives.
