- Songwriters' Circle at the Roland Inspiration Centre w/ Simon Kendall
RSVP HERE: https://www.facebook.com/events/1062954067223741/ Join us for a FREE Songwriters' Circle with Simon Kendall (Doug and the Slugs, Stripper's Union) at the Roland Inspiration Centre Vancouver! Bring your rough demo, perform your original song, and co-write with other local songwriters! Songwriters' Circle is your chance to learn new techniques with other writers and industry veterans. SIMON KENDALL Simon has spent over 40 years composing, performing and producing an eclectic array of music for concert performance, theatre, television, radio, cinema, and dance. In 1978 Simon got the call to join his old music buddies and transplanted Toronto graphic artist Doug Bennett in Vancouver’s upstart indie band ‘Doug and the Slugs’. This lead to 15 years as the band’s music director and goofy gargantuan keyboardist. They released 4 gold albums and performed from New York to the North Pole as one of the decade’s premier Canadian touring acts. Their independent 1979 single ‘Too Bad’ took the band by surprise, charting across the country and was reborn in 1999 as the theme song for NBC’S’ The Norm Show’. Since then, Simon has performed with numerous artists including Colin James, Cowboy Junkies, Jim Byrnes, Ridley Bent, Frazey Ford and Dalannah Gail Bowen. He currently divides his time between producing, recording, performing and composing. ______ This event is hosted at the Roland Inspiration Centre: The Roland Inspiration Centre Vancouver is an inclusive and safe space where all are welcomed to visit our showroom as well as participate in public events, performances and workshops. To ensure everyone enjoys a positive experience, we ask that all visitors to the Roland Inspiration Centre kindly respect the diversity of our community and the rights of the individual while visiting our space.
