Re: [permaculture-117] dug well question

Sorry, I don't.
Where I lived in Theodosia Inlet, we had an artesian well (that came out of the ground on top of a layer of clay).
We caught it in an old tub and from there gravity fed it it through flexible piping through the forest to cisterns and from there to our house and garden.
The installation was several km. long and we had to make sure there were as few dips as possible, where the water could freeze if there was not enough flow in winter.
Another problem was that the bears liked to chew on the piping, so we had to make regular inspections to tape up the leaks as well as clean the screen in the catchbasin from leaves, sand and debris.
Those were the days... and years in my life about twenty years ago.
Are you moving to the country?

Hi all!
does anyone have opinions/information on the environmental and health impacts of concrete liners vs plastic liners (both sound so horrid) in the installation of dug wells?  finding it difficult to source information and make an informed decision.  we are concerned about leaching into ecosystems and growing spaces, as well of course, into drinking water.
cheers permies,
