THE BHAGAVAD-GITA

Unitarian Universalist Church of Long Beach

Our study of the ancient "Bhagavad-Gita," a part of the great Indian epic poem, the Mahabharata, will continue via Skype. The story is timeless, as Krishna, the spiritual teacher and charioteer, guides his pupil, Arjuna, from despondency to spiritual awakening on the eve of a great internal battle. Each week we read a little and discuss a lot, allowing ample opportunity for new and seasoned students alike to savor the depths of this classic treatise. We alternate between the "Gita" and "The Notes on the Bhagavad Gita." Both may be found free online at: https://universaltheosophy.com/pdfs-library/ Download Skype at Skype.com/en Skype works on most devices, including desktops, laptops, tablets, and cell phones. Landlines can also call in. Call or text[masked] for information.

THE SECRET DOCTRINE Study Group

The Wind Horse

We will continue our study of H. P. Blavatsky's monumental work, The Secret Doctrine, via Skype and phone. This work has challenged the greatest minds and every conventional system of thought since it was first published in 1888. Each month, we read a few passages and have the best discussions on symbolism, metaphysics, ancient religions, modern science, and the connections between all of them. Join us as we explore this text together, a task made easier when done as a group. No prior knowledge of Theosophy is necessary, only a daring willingness to explore new ideas and to confront head-on the materialistic biases of our time with the hammer of ancient wisdom. A free PDF of "The Secret Doctrine" can be found online at: https://www.sacred-texts.com/the/sd/index.htm Please note that all in-person meetings at this location are cancelled until further notice. We will continue to meet via Skype. Skype name: Wes Amerman Skype also works with cell and landlines! Call or text[masked] ahead of time for further information.
