1E/2E AD&D: Greyhawk Campaign

Our heroes are locked in battle with hordes of skeletons and zombies. It seemed that just as one would fall, more would come in and join the battle. in the prior week, many well placed oils were lit this week to cause major damage to many of the undead.  Then from behind comes a lone Monk (Julian) chased by six skeletons that were turned just a few round earlier.  Having forgotten about the skeletons, our party finds themselves surrounded.  The damage they are taking and the healing they have used has taken its toll.  Out of spells and potions it is every hero for themselves.  All are in melee and then the Elven Cleric's war dog (Ian) goes down.  The Dwarven Fighter/Cleric (Gary) swings his magic bastard sword and critically fails.  He hits Jeremy in the back and kills the Fighter/ Mage's familiar (cat) who is within his backpack during combat.  The damage is permanent as he loses hit points and goes down in combat.  The battle rages.  The protective sphere around the Elven Mage/Thief (Steven) funnels the undead into others.  The newest member of the group the Monk (Julian) moves into a doorway to engage, but finds the undead in the room returning to combat.  Having no real armor class and being surrounded took no time at all for the undead to end his short career.

With two heroes dead, two animal companions dead, the remaining heroes see a dark figure and three guards entering the battle.  Energized, they quickly cast their offensive spells and take down this evil priest.  With the protection from undead spell still active, the remaining evil can't get within striking distance to harm our heroes.  So they explore further into the evil halls the whole time followed by the remaining undead who wait for their chance.

Our heroes spot a secret door and into the masters chamber they go.  They accumulate gold, gems, expensive serving items, and the magic items from the evil cleric.  They stumble into the temple of evil and after a short hypnotic trance on two members, engage the remaining undead.  This time without the protection of the scrolls magic.  As the heroes sustain more damage, and with no healing remaining, the Paladin must lead them out but how?  He changes places with only 4 hit points left and locates a passage out of the temple.  They head back down the hallway and stop long enough to collect the useful items of their fallen comrades, and head out of the evil area possibly for good.

They seek the safety of the secret room located back in the Bugbear tunnels.  With wizardlock on both doors they rest, identify items, and sleep.  This is where we begin next week.  Hope to see you all!
