1E/2E AD&D: Greyhawk Campaign

Our heroes have spent nearly a week within and around City State looking for skills training, contacts, and learning about future adventuring opportunities.  All characters level up, gain new skills, hit points, and in some cases spells.  The highlight was when the Ranger/Cleric (Jullian) volunteers to be lowered down into a well with no armor, weapons, shackled, and head first...  At the bottom was the "scare of his life" and then his character is nowhere to be found.  Others jumping in to save him had to be rescued and will rethink jumping blindly into a deep well next time.  That is when there is a Black Pudding at the bottom.

After completing their training and preparing to adventure outside the city walls our party meets a new Ranger/Thief and the party is back to ten.  They head out into the burial grounds outside City State to investigate rumors of things going bump in the night.  After breaking loose some boards and planks covering an old window, the party makes it into the crypt of the Dirhan family.  As they enter, they are attacked by the crypt's guardians and the battle rages.  Three skeletons of incredible strength and skill fight to the death.  Had it not been for multiple critical fails by the DM, there may have been a member lost.  However, our heroes prevail.  They now find themselves standing in what appears to be a temple or sacrifice room of some sort.

See you all next Thursday!

Last week you left off inside the tomb of the Dirhan family. Regularly spaced along the walls at 20' intervals are cleverly-wrought, cast iron torch holders, each fashioned to resemble the head and neck of a writhing serpent. Between each of these serpentine constructions hang a number of portraits of various family members, all bearing the same unearthly quality. The Cleric (Ian) steeled himself enough to look at the first painting. He quickly found himself gripped with the feeling of intense evil and a sensation of slowly being submerged into the deepest of nightmares. He heard a soft chanting in an unknown tongue rising in volume along with his rising feelings of fear and loathing. He was only able to break his gaze due to the Mage's (Steven) covering his eyes with a cloak.

You are again reminded of the overwhelming dankness of the air combined with a pervasive odor not unlike the smell of rotting flesh...

See you all tomorrow night. We should have a full house!
