Shadowrun 4th Edition

So this past week? Yeah. Our team was called by a Mr. Johnson. Hired to go rescue an exec's daughter. Name of Leona. Aztech grabbed her, was using her to force her father to give up corp secrets. Daddy wanted her back, but had to be done within 9 hours. Mr. Johnson also teamed them up with a new hacker, Ms. Spock.

Leaving the club where the meet took place, a troll stops them, says he has info on their target. He says target is not kidnapped girl, but rather stolen weaponized ghoul. Aztech took her from MCT, and his company (Ares) wants her destroyed so NO one has her.

Leaving the trolls, the runners spot an off black and yellow striped roto-drone. They head home, gear up and plan how to get into the building where the person is being held. It's the ACHE, or what used to be the Renraku Arcology.

So the hacker and mage, both being lightly (and legally) armed, walk in the front door. The face and demo man take a patrol car in, talking their way past the UCAS military with only light weaponry.

The hacker takes a seat at Starbucks and hacks their system, putting in an order for banana hammocks (of all things). This order allows the covert ops specialist to bring in his step van, along with the shielded smuggling compartment with demo man's light machine gun.

The team meets again at the highest level they can get to publicly (25). They need to get to 200. The hacker breaks into the cameras and puts up a static image to mask their insertion. Then she hacks the elevator, allowing them into the residential floors above. The elevator stops at floor 150 and she has to dig deeper to get into the admin controls that let her up to level 200.

Once on the floor, the mage uses her mage sight goggles to peek out of the elevator. Once clear, they step onto an abandoned floor, most of the lights out. They ID a drone rail along the wall and the hacker begins to do a hardware patch to get her comlink hard-wired into it to control the drones. The mage also uses her detect life and detect magic spells to determine there is only one life sign on the floor and it's magical. There's a wicked background count and something is jamming all comm traffic, including the face's radar.

The covert ops specialist starts to explore, checking the rooms and is quickly gunned down by a rail drone's LMG. The mage runs forward and, using her mage sight goggles to look around the corner, quickly blasts the drone to pieces. Shortly after that happens, the drone detonates, but everyone is under cover. The others, standing in the elevator hallway are quickly under fire by a heavy drone's HMG minigun. The face is hurt, but he quickly drops the drone with two well-placed shots from his sniping rifle. This drone also detonates, though the face manages to soak the damage.

Now the face takes cover in a meeting room, kicking a hole in the drywall to shoot through. The mage moves to an office and points the cable from her goggles under the door. A rail drone shoots across a far hall and the face manages to get one shot off before it's out of sight. It pops around a near corner where the mage can see it. She does enough damage to not only take out the drone, but a good chunk of the rail it's on as well. The remaining chunks detonate, but again everyone's under cover.

A moment later another heavy drone pops into the elevator hall, though only demo man and the hacker are there now. The hacker goes down in a hail of bullets. The demo man is hit hard, knocked to the floor as his armor absorbs just enough to keep him alive. He returns fire, but it's not enough to bring the drone down. It spins the minigun toward him again and ... jams! The drone is unable to fire! As it tries to clear the jam, demo man rips into it with another fusillade. The drone explodes, but his armor takes the impact.

The mage begins running around, doing enough healing to bring everyone up onto their feet. The hacker, who is very skilled in first aid, then patches everyone up even more until they're in pretty good shape again.

They spend the next couple of hours checking and re-checking every room, and find nothing. Periodically the mage uses her detect life spell to get an idea of the direction they need to go. Triangulating on this, the face starts minutely checking the rooms. He finds a secret door in an office, behind which is a full lab. In this lab they find a dragon in human form strapped to a table being pumped full of drugs. Deciding that, since her name is Isis and that they were unable to find this "Leona", that they are okay with letting the dragon go and having her owe them a favor rather than trying to either take her or kill her.

She tells them to leave her, once they release her and sends them down a stairway to avoid the UCAS patrols. After wading through an infestation of devil rats, the runners make good their escape.

I am thinking about taking a whack at chemistry and I had some questions. I know I will need formulas to make things and I was wondering if I could use my knowledge skills to see if Bodger already knows how to make them. I have the Chemistry knowledge skill specializing in industrial, and I have the Engineering knowledge skill specializing in chemicals.

Definitely. I've already been looking in to where to get the goods. Fortunately a lot of the explosives have components that are ridiculously easy to get.

Good to hear from you. Yeah, the game's still going. We're gearing up for 5th edition this time next year (after it's had a few months to season post-release).

Could always use one more at the table. You should swing by if you can.

I don't know about you, but I make a pretty decent space heater. Not to mention I can make a killer stir fry. ;)

Yeah, but those things don't *matter*, like gaming does! ;)
