Needs a location
Join the lovely Nancy Hale and her equally lovely co-leader Lida on a hike into shady Santa Ynez Canyon before school bells ring and take her away from us again. A canopy of oaks, sycamores, and California bays hold off the heat as the trail follows a cooling stream into Topanga State Park. A grassy knoll often hosts feeding deer, so be on the lookout for our hoofed friends. The trail ends at a slender waterfall, but we'll stop short of that to avoid the bouldering necessary to reach it.
The hike is approximately 5 miles, with 1200 feet of elevation gain (we'll get the gain out of the way early).
Lunch will be at Mogan's in the Palisades afterward, a relaxed, outdoor cafe.
From PCH: Take Sunset Bl north 0.5 mile to Palisades Dr. Follow Palisades Dr. north for 2.4 miles to Ver de la Montura. Turn left for one long block. Signed trailhead will be on the right. Park on street.
