Theatricality in Dance Workshops

  • Sep 7, 2013 · 12:00 PM
  • Studio Nina Amaya

This 2 hour workshop combines the drama of storytelling with the emotive beauty of improvisational dance. All dance backgrounds and levels are welcome.

For all levels, as it is not about what you do but how you do it. Create stage presence and draw your audience in. This workshop will more deeply explore concepts from Nina & Amy Fae's earlier Theatrical Performance Workshop while also introducing new exercises and ideas.

This workshop is being offered in conjunction with Antonia's Theatrical Floorwork Intensive, a two part workshop where you will learn and perform a charismatic and dramatic dance. Part 1 (Sept 7, 2:00pm – 3:30pm): Learn the individual floorwork moves and put them together, adding theatrics and dramatic presentation. Part 2 (Sept 8, 11:00am – 12:30pm): Work on the choreography, making the theatrical piece come alive with dramatic skills, emotion and charisma.

After the Theatricality workshop on September 7, you have a unique opportunity to showcase your dance in a variety show at The Crazy Russian! Register before August 24th and you are guaranteed a spot in the show, should you want one.

Nina Amaya and Amy Fae are the directors of Troupe Aubergine in Baltimore. They have both been studying Middle Eastern Dance for 15 years, and have performed in a variety of theater productions. Aubergine has been dancing at festivals and charity events for the past seven years, exploring the power of story in dance.

$40 for Theatricality in Dance. $100 if you register for Theatricality AND Antonia's Theatrical Floorwork Intensive. Classes are limited in size- register early! $1 added here for paypal fees.

Or Send a check to Nina Amaya, 1020 Regester Ave. Baltimore, MD, 21239- mark what it is for! Or bring it to Nina's classes!
