This is an introduction for The Work of Byron Katie meet up.
Join us for an evening of inquiry. The Work of Byron Katie is a way of identifying and questioning the thoughts that can trigger anger, fear, depression, addiction, isolation, and violence in each of us.
The Work itself is quite simple. It consists of four Questions and ‘Turnarounds’. When considering any thought, we ask:
1. Is it true?
2. Can you absolutely know that it’s true?
3. How do you react, what happens, when you believe that thought?
4. Who would you be without the thought?
We will share some of our stressful thoughts and proceed with group inquiry.
We will spend some time to investigate what it means to argue with a reality, and what it means to believe our thoughts. "What do you mean by believing our thoughts? Is there a moment that we don't believing our thoughts?" Is there?
One-on-one facilitation will also be available for those interested.
Following our inquiries we’ll have a Q&A session where we can reflect on the evening’s inquiries as well as about The Work itself. I look forward to answering your questions about how to do The Work, fill out Judge-Your-Neighbor worksheets, etc.
