What we're about

Want to meditate but can't sit still?

For most of us, the image of meditation is sitting still, doing nothing, and stopping the mind from thinking. This seems almost impossible!

And yet we yearn to find relaxation, awareness, and self-acceptance - which is what the state of meditation is!

That is why you will find both "active" and "passive" meditations being offered at the World of Meditation meetup group. With active meditations, instead of sitting still, you will experience a variety of activities that first help release mind/ body stresses, tensions, anxieties and inner chatter. This creates a space for you to experience the silence and clarity within. Active Meditations are easy, enjoyable and they REALLY work!

And for those of you who CAN sit still, You will find passive meditations on our schedule, such as the Darkness Meditation, Chakra Sounds, Vipassana, Zazen, Nadabrahma and other.

The meditations you will find here are both ancient and modern, and come from all corners of the globe. So, welcome to the World of Meditation!

No previous meditation experience is necessary! Our meditations are for EVERYONE - from beginners to experienced meditators. All ages, backgrounds, sizes and shapes are welcome.

You can come and meditate every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Check out our meetup calendar for all the details.

Zen Meditation with Pranesh – a Zen Priest & Osho Sannyasin Fridays Online

Pranesh will guide us for the Zen Sittings and Zen Walking (Kinhin). There will be time for instructions, the meditation period and afterwards for Q&A. In these sessions, it does not matter if you are a beginner or season meditator. When we practice a meditation technique, no matter which one we are doing, what happens is always fresh, new, unknown and unpredictable. From Osho’s teachings on Buddhism and Zen, Pranesh has focused his own path of learning into the practice of Zen. He has trained under Zen masters Genki Takabayashi and Jakusho Kwong. He was ordained as a Soto Zen priest by Kwong-roshi on Feburary 1, 2020. To support the Center’s on-going costs, the charge will marked off your meditation pass ($8.00) or a single meditation is $15.00. These are suggested prices. If for any reasons you wish to pay less (or more) during this COVID-19 period you can do so through Venmo or Paypal. If you are unable to pay, you are welcome to come as our guest! Payments can be made through the Website, or by Paypal ([masked]), or by Venmo (user name – Shanti Schenker-Skye.) Single Meditation $15 Meditation Pass for 10 meditations $80 (NOTE: if you attend more than 10 meditations within a 30-day period, the pass converts to an unlimited pass during that 30-day period!) Once you have paid and registered the zoom link will appear.

An Online Osho Dynamic Meditation

Location visible to members

Dynamic Meditation is an energizing, physical meditation that opens breathing, body, and inner energies, followed by witnessing and dancing. It lasts for one hour and has five stages. It can be done alone, but it is also a very powerful and helpful experience to do it as a group. When doing this meditation in a group, the meditation remains an individual experience. Keeping the eyes closed, one remains oblivious of other participants around. Using a blindfold can be helpful to keep your attention focused inward. It is best to have an empty stomach and wear loose comfortable clothing. In the first 10 minutes there is rapid chaotic breathing; then the second 10 minutes everyon is allowed to express out loud their tears, sadness, anger, frustrations; the third stage is using a Sufi based tradition of jumping up and down with arms raised saying a mantra Hoo -Hoo; then for 15 minutes we are all very still in silence and then for 15 minutes we have free form dance celebration. This meditation technique has been scientifically designed by Osho. It is best to be done in its complete form, with nothing shortened or omitted. It has traditionally been done in the morning. But it can be done anytime you can fit it into your schedule. We present this meditation weekly as it has been for us extremely helpful and transformational! Here is a u-tube showing the 5 stages of Dynamic Meditation (http://www.oshodynamic.com/dynamic-video.html). When you open the link you will see there is also a u-tube of the Mystic Osho, who created this meditation, and other people speaking about Dynamic Meditation. Though the meditation lasts one hour, we first meet each other and then give the instructions about the 5 stages of the meditation and afterwards there is time for Q & A and a cup of tea! To support the World of Meditation Center’s on going costs the charge will be a mark off a meditation pass ($8.00) or a single meditation is $15.00. These are suggested prices. If for any reasons you wish to pay less (or more) during this COVID-19 period you can do so through Venmo or Paypal. An Online Sacred Sharing Circle

Online event

The emphasis of this Sacred Sharing Circle is on allowing each person to speak about whatever they wish, in a safe and non-confronting atmosphere. The group is leaderless, with each person having 10 minutes sharing and 5 minutes feedback, if the person sharing wishes to have feedback. Each session starts with a short meditation to ground ourselves, so that we are able to speak whatever we want to share, and to listen attentively to each other. This Sacred Sharing Circle offers a safe, confidential haven for us to speak and to be heard! Everything spoken by a participant is held in utmost confidence and everyone agrees to not discuss with others outside the circle about what has been said, though a person may speak to others about their own personal sharing. During a sharing we are asked to be fully present for the person sharing. We keep our eyes on them and are open to them, without interrupting or rescuing them in any way or drawing attention to ourselves through sounds or gestures. If the one sharing feels to stop talking, it is fine to be in silence for the remainder of their time. Much can happen in that silence. It’s good to remember that there is no dialogue exchange in either the sharing or feedback time. If the person sharing wants feedback or help, they can ask for it after the sharing time is over. Feedback is most helpful when it is not loaded with advice or attempts to therapize, but rather with acknowledging what you have heard them say and suggesting an alternative if you see a possible blind spot or unconscious pattern. We ask that your feedback be as short and clear as possible so that, within the time given so there is space for others to share what they perceive. If you are the one receiving feedback, you let yourself receive it without responding. We offer this Sacred Sharing Circle on our schedule because we find it to be of great value in learning how to express ourselves with more honesty; and in connecting with a deeper part of who we are. This practice is extremely helpful in our day-to-day life. To support the Center’s on going costs the charge will be a mark off a meditation pass ($8.00) or a single meditation is $15.00. These are suggested prices. If for any reasons you wish to pay less (or more) during this COVID-19 period you can do so through Venmo or Paypal. Payments can be made through the Website or by Paypal ([masked]) or Venmo user name – Shanti Schenker-Skye. Single Meditation $15 Meditation Pass for 10 meditations $80 Please pay in advance and register for the Meditation before joining us and to receive the zoom.us link.
