What we're about
Upcoming events (5+)
The emphasis of this Sacred Sharing Circle is on creating a space where each person is able to speak about whatever they wish, in a safe and non-confronting atmosphere. The group is leaderless, with each person having 10 minutes sharing; and, if the person sharing wishes , to have 5 minutes feedback as well. Each session starts with a short meditation to ground ourselves, so that we are able to speak whatever we want to share, and to listen attentively to each other. The Sacred Sharing Circle offers a safe, confidential haven for us to speak and to be seen and heard! Everything spoken by a participant is held in utmost confidence and everyone agrees not to discuss what has been said by people in the circle with others outside the circle. Of course it is fine to speak with others about your own personal sharing. During a sharing we are asked to be fully present for the person sharing. We keep our eyes on them and are open to them, without interrupting or rescuing them in any way or drawing attention to ourselves through sounds or gestures. If the one sharing feels to stop talking, it is fine to be in silence for the remainder of their time. Much can happen in that silence. It’s good to remember that there is no dialogue exchange in either the sharing or feedback time. If the person sharing wants feedback or help, they can ask for it after the sharing time is over. Feedback is most helpful when it is not loaded with advice or attempts to therapize, but rather with acknowledging what you have heard them say and suggesting an alternative if you see a possible blind spot or unconscious pattern. We ask that your feedback be as short and clear as possible so that, within the five minutes time given, there is space for others to share what they perceive. If you are the one receiving feedback, you simply receive it without responding. We offer this Sacred Sharing Circle on our schedule because we find it to be of great value in learning how to express ourselves with more honesty, and how to connect with a deeper part of who we are. We have found this practice to be extremely helpful in our day-to-day life. This Meditation is divided into three stages. The first stage, originated from the Russian Mystic Gurdjief’s structured movements. It is a centering dance which also prepares us for the second stage of Whirling*. The final stage is lying down, preferably on your belly, with closed eyes, giving an opportunity to just move inside and witness without distraction – thoughts, emotions, body sensations and at times absolute silence and stillness. There is music specially made for this meditation. Here is a You-tube of the three stages: No Dimensions U-Tube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlrUq7Iak7c We will meet at 7pm to get acquainted and connect for a few minutes. Then we will introduce and explain the 3 stages of the meditation The meditation lasts one hour. Afterwards, we will serve tea and we can answer any questions on meditation you might have. The address is 3412 NE 115th St, Seattle, WA 98125. It is located in a residential area and there is a stained glass butterfly in the upper window. Please park in the driveway as there are many parking spaces in the front and in our driveway. If the driveway is full, it is good to park on 35th Ave NE. There are many parking places there that do not affect the neighbors. If you do park on 115th St, please do not park in front of the corner house at the corner of 115th and 35th (same side as the Center. Those neighbors need to have the spaces for themselves and their friends. If you park on 34th Ave., park on the school side only. Thank you for you consideration. Always park in the flow of traffic, when parking on the street. Otherwise you will most likely get ticketed. (This is written from experience.) But in spite of all prohibitions, children love to whirl. Jalaluddin Rumi, seeing children whirl, thought that there must be something that the children feel but they cannot express, and perhaps they are not fully aware what it is. So he tried whirling himself, and he was amazed that if you go on whirling there comes a moment when the center of your being remains static and your whole body, mind, brain, everything whirls. ” And that center which does not whirl, is you, the center of the cyclone. The whirling is almost like a cyclone, but exactly in the middle of the cyclone you will find a point which has not moved at all.”
The Kundalini Meditation is an active meditation, that first helps release the mind/body anxiety and stress, creating a space for relaxation and inner quietness. It consists of four stages of 15 minutes: 1. loosening the body with gentle shaking, 2. free style dance for moving the body’s energy, 3. sitting or standing silently with eyes closed and 4. deeply relaxing and letting go. The Mystic Osho, who has created this meditation has said: “When you are doing the Chaotic Meditation or the Kundalini or the Nadabrahma, these are not really meditations, you are just getting in tune. If you have seen them, it is like Indian classical musicians playing. For half an hour, or sometimes even more, they simply go on fixing their instruments. They will move the knobs, they will make the strings tight or loose, and the drum player will go on checking his drum – whether it is perfect or not. For half an hour they go on doing this. This is not music, this is just preparation. Active meditation is not really the meditation, it is just preparation. You are preparing your instrument. When it is ready, then you stand in silence. Then meditation starts. Then you are utterly there. You have woken yourself up by jumping, by dancing, by breathing, by shouting — these are all devices to make you a little more alert than you ordinarily are. Once you are alert, then the waiting. Waiting is meditation — waiting with full awareness. And then it comes, it descends on you, it surrounds you, it plays around you, it dances around you, it cleanses you, it purifies you, it transforms you.” Osho. Please be here at 5:30pm to meet the other participants and settled in. Instructions will be given in the beginning of the meditation and afterwards there is time for Q & A and a cup of tea!
