Please join us to hear from Gerry Lambourne about the Youth Suicide Awareness program. Gerry is a former police officer who served with Victoria Police from 1974 to 2009, of which he spent the last 18 years as the Officer in Charge of the Brighton Police Station. Gerry has also been a member of the Rotary Club of Brighton North since 1996 and has chaired the Community and Youth Portfolios many times since. He has completed a Graduate Diploma in Adolescent Health and Welfare through the Centre for Adolescent Health at Melbourne University in 1998 and 1999 - becoming the first Victoria Police officer to complete this course.
Gerry is currently co-chair of the District Committee for Youth Suicide Awareness. It was established through a partnership with Professor Carr-Gregg who was then a Director of the newly established Centre for Adolescent Health at the Royal Children’s Hospital, and has been active now within our District for nearly 18 years during which many teachers, police officers and other professionals who work with youth have studied for a Graduate Diploma in Adolescent Health with funding support provided by Rotarians.
Please RSVP by Sunday evening.
Note- Gerry has replaced his colleague Phil who was originally scheduled to present on this topic.
