Please join us to listen to David Hayes and Roy Zhang.
In 2013, David commenced a new NGO agency – Community Social Development Int. (CSD Int.), which works in India, Cambodia and Timor Leste, implementing projects such as: social awareness programs teaching about the effects of violence against women (India); working with World of Difference (WOD) conducting humanitarian tours, and implementing economic and educational programs in schools and villages (Cambodia); and conducting awareness and support programs to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates surrounding home births (Timor Leste).
Prior to this David was a volunteer committee member, and later CEO of a non-profit Assisi Aid Projects Inc, giving over 20 years of volunteer service. Under David’s leadership Assisi forged a working partnership with Live & Learn in Australia and added projects in Cambodia and Timor Leste to its existing projects in India.
David’s experience in community social development has been very much a hands-on approach, visiting these three countries many times and more importantly interacting with village people in mostly remote locations over 20 years. He has learnt that these communities must be approached on a holistic basis addressing their economic, social and political needs.
Club member Roy will then speak about his experience volunteering on the Rotary World of Difference program in Cambodia.
