Details

We have Professor Susan Davis speaking to us on behalf of Australian Rotary Health (ARH) for Rotary's initiative of "Lift the Lid on Mental Illness". She is on the ARH committee and is one of their keynote speakers.

Join us for a very exciting club meeting, as we learn about this initiative and mental health within the community, in the lead up to World Mental Health day on October 10.

About the campaign:

Lift the Lid on Mental Illness (https://australianrotaryhealth.org.au/support-us/campaigns/lift-the-lid/) is Australian Rotary Health’s National annual fundraising day for mental health research.

Each year approximately 1-in-5 Australians will experience a mental illness and in order to help future generations of young Australians, we need to look ahead to research and find out how we can prevent this type of illness occurring.

You can support this wonderful initiative by making a donation on World Mental Health Day, Tuesday, October 10 to your local Rotary Club or to Australian Rotary Health. As we are also celebrating Hat Day, you are invited to hold an event and wear your most eye-catching hat.

About our Guest Speaker:

Professor Susan Davis (MBBS, FRACP, PhD, FAHMS) is an NHMRC Principal Research Fellow, Director, Monash University Women’s Health Research Program, Head, Specialist Women’s Health Clinic for women with the complex disease, Alfred Hospital Melbourne and consultant at Cabrini Medical Centre. She is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences and a Monash University Distinguished Alumnus. Her research has advanced the understanding of estrogen and testosterone action, deficiency and replacement in women.

She is President-elect of the International Menopause Society. She has over 360 peer-reviewed publications and has received numerous international awards for her research. She is a committee member for Australian Rotary Health.
