I was over at the Mill Creek trail yesterday. It is just stunning over there! And yes, your feet (and calves and knees!) will get wet. Lots of fun.

Announcing a new Meetup for The Bend Hiking Meetup Group!

What: The Ochocos: Mill Creek and the Twin Pillars

When: July 12,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: The high trails are still clogged with snow so let's go explore a gem of the Ochocos. The trail to the Twin Pillars follows Mill creek for 3.5 miles then climbs steeply for a further 2 miles to the base of the 300-foot high spires of the twin pillars. The first part of the hike is through cool forests and wildflower meadows along the banks of the creek. There are up to 8 stream crossings - so don't come if you don't like to get your feet wet. The second half is a tough slog through the remains of an old burn. The trail is steep and littered with blowdown. It is not easy.

Because of the warm weather - and the fact that the final climb is in full sun - we will have an early start so we can avoid the worst of the heat.

Meet at Starbucks in the Cascades Village (by World Market) at 7am on Saturday 12th. The drive takes over one hour so let's aim to be hiking by 8:30.

Bring plenty water and, once again, your feet will get wet!!!

Tom
